Jay Gerbino

   Jay, one of Connecticut’s premier bassists, has been a pivotal force on the music scene for over 3 decades.

   Jay has been sharing the bandstand with the likes of legendary Jaco Pastorius side man Alex Darqui in Ft Lauderdale. On the road with Mississippi Blues man Johnny Rawls, & also playing bass in the pit band for some local productions, such as:

Little Shop Of Horrors, P.T. Barnum, & GodSpell.

   Jay is comfortable in any style of music. R&B, Funk, Pop, Blues or Jazz,

always providing the groove to make you move.

   Jay started out following in the footsteps of bass players of the time:

Jack Bruce, Harvey Brooks, Rocco Prestia, & Verdine White. While

Studing music at Housatonic  Community College under the direction of

Sonny Costanzo. Along with playing local bars.

   After leaving school he spent several years on the road, touring with disco & show

bands, before leaving the road to study in New York City with jazz great Richard Davis.

   Jay worked as a freelance bassist in the Miami / Ft. Lauderdale area in the late 70’s, before returning to Southern Connecticut to settle down.

   Jay’s major influences are: Jaco Pastorius, Ron Carter, Richard Davis, & Rocco Prestia.
